Emphasis is a prominent and frequently addresed topic in linguistics due to its fundamental role in enhancing communication and conveying meaning. Its role is not limited to promoting clarity, but also contributes to expressing emotions, intentions, and subtle details that shape effective interaction. While Arabic generally distinguishes between two primary types of emphasis, the number and nature of emphasis types in English remain unclear. Hence, the researcher seeks to identify the distinct types of emphasis in both languages, explore the similarities and differences in how emphasis operates in Arabic and English, and draw conclusions about the implications of these findings in the fields of language learning, teaching emphasis, and beyond. Some key findings from this research is that Arabic does highlight two types of emphasis across different studies as widely recognised, whereas English exhibits a more diverse and less clearly defined system. Despite the variety of manifestations of emphasis in English, there is notable overlap between these types, including the potential for overlap with Arabic methods of emphasis. Consequently, the researcher explored different ways for organising the gathered data into a logical sequence from the beginning until the end. However, these attempts proved unsuccessful. Future research should prioritise the development of a structured categorisation system for emphasis in English, facilitating not only language teaching and learning purposes for non-native speakers particularly, but also enhancing research and practice in related fields such as translation and interpretation. It is important to note that this research primarily examines Modern Standard Arabic and Standard English, with limited exceptions supported by empirical evidence.
